Dear Reader,
I’m over spiraling as I did in the last post and mostly thanks to you. <3
I was tremendously touched by the amount of responses I got from you laying out why not settling on just one style is a good thing and also that you recognized my style even when expermenting. I cried a little and felt better.
I ‘m still not sure if settling on something would make me a more succesful artist but I think that my only way forward is to wholeheartedly be me. I like lighthearted and nature related art. wan’t to take my viewer into a cosy little bubble and I want to play with styles and techniques.
Whether or not I show everything on instagram is a different thing entirely.
I also think that I’m simple not ready to settle on something just yet.
Every painting I do is a step toward finding style but there is som much I have not fully figured out yet.
To me finding a style is about learning a particuar shorthand one likes for all kinds of things. Like how do I draw mouths, eyes, noses, but also how I paint trees what is the levely of detail I find ejoyable etc.
The more you draw you’ll automatically find the short hands that works for you.
I feel like these are proportions I’ve settled into over the years that suit me best.

When thinking about my style I will have certain illustrations that are my markers for what I want to achieve. These are exambles for a bit more realistic proportions that I like but more than that is just not my thing. :)

I feel like I’ve settled on certain proportions in characters but not on a technique I ALWAYS apply. The character proportions and way I draw them is probably what pulls my work together.
Maybe at some point I will settle on THE technique to but till then I’ll keep experimenting but allso looking back and looking at what I liked in my art and then from there again start experimenting to find something that I love more than others.
This illustration is one of my favourite cause I love how I managed to capture nature here. Not to detailed but full of light and trying to achieve something similar i did the watching bumble bee illustraion belew where I feel like I did not achieve the same looseness but I’m happy at how the background melts away.
This iterative process is slow and I’m fine with that since I’m enjoying it.
Do you have illustrations of yours that you keep in mind as references that you want to achieve again?

how do you do always? It’s so amazing. I have never seen an illustration more beautiful..... would you mind me borrowing some away from my Saturday newsletter?
I have no idea how you go about your visionary board, but you should really be proud of yourself because this is insanely awesome. Trust me because I’m your newest fan
Ahoi Lovely Shmoe! I was stopping by to let you know I think you're human sunshine and have nominated you for the Sunshine Blogger Award (a peer nomination award)
