Dear Reader,
Drawing in itself is a simple act. You can always pick up a pencil and draw. It’s as easy as that. So why is it so hard. Why don’t we do it, if it is something we want to do, even crave?
The biggest obstacle is busy life I guess and our wonderful brain that makes excuses like I don’t have enough time today to draw properly.
But the beauty of drawing is that you don’t need much time. You can spend any amount on it from 5 minutes to hours.
If you are super busy then set tiny drawing goals, but try to do it regulary.
If you do 10 mins everyday, then you draw more than an hour every week! It all adds up and maybe you’ll have sessions that you can take longer on. If you have fun with it you’ll surely make a little more time for it.
Always remember one is more than none and once you have momentum it will become easier and easier!
I know I always harp on about this subject but that is because I think we shouldn’t hold back on something that is so enjoyable and that quietens the mind when we’re doing it for ourselves (not for social media, not to compare ourselves, just for us and the pleasure it brings us.)
Currently I’m still doing studies from mapcrunch and managing to do at least 1 per day. They usually take me from 1/2hour to 1 hour.
This is my least favourite:
I called it a fail on instagram and got a bunch of messages that it was really nice (which was lovely.<3)
This was a session that didn’t go as well as I would have liked. It took 1 1/2 hours which was longer than usually. Here to me the contrasts are off, especially in the mountains. I did not manage to get them right and painting over them again and again probably made it worse. Sounds familiar?
Yeah that kind of session. ^^’ They will always exist! And while they are annoying I know that they will happen from time to time and I’m not surprised by them. They’re part of the process and learning to just keep going is the best thing one can do. So I just painted another one which I in turn was happy with.
The “failed” session showed me again that painting mountains does not come easy to me. So I was really happy when the first mapcrunch yesterday was this lovely mountain scenery I struggleg with it a little to but way less than befor :D
