Dear Reader,
I have missed one Monday Newsletter during the holidays. I simply forgot. I was at my in-laws for Christmas and after we were painting our house, in the same Bavarian village as they live in, that we are moving to in February. Still feels weird and scary and, and aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah :D
Anyhow I’d love a quick take of yours on something because I love habits and sketchbooks.
I know everyone is different about their sketchbooks and I would love to hear your stance on this: Going back to an older sketch and adding to it at a later point in time.
For me a sketchbook kinda NEEDED to be chronological I think that is me being a bit weird about sketchbooks ( I also CAN’T keep several at once exception for special occasion sketch books like water color ones)
Now I thought wanted to revisit this sequence cause I thought a dab of color would benefit it and so I did. I really rarely used to do this but I have now and then.
But now that I have I think I should do this more often… like If I want to experiment with some colors or so. Just use what is there instead of always producing something extra for a certain test I want to do.

I regularly keep old sketch books around for that reason. Sometimes I just want to ink or practice coloring so I go back to my old sketch books. My feeling has never been that sketch books have to be chronological, rather I view the sketch book itself as a piece of art in it's own right that i can complete at any time. I like "completing" pieces in various sketch books when I feel I have the skill set to do so.
I think the color addition turned out simply beautiful!! I remember seeing it before, and it had magic then too, but even more now, I think.
